Team Lead, Investment Research

Researching, collecting and analysing company information in order to make informed recommendations to internal and external clients
Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate historical performance and perform financial analysis to make financial projections, using both top down and bottom-up analysis approach
  • Conduct interviews with company management, participate in earnings conference calls and make company factory visits to improve the understanding of company operations
  • Develop and maintain financial models of companies under coverage using absolute and relative valuation techniques and update forecasts on timely basis as new information and corporate events are released
  • Analyse financial statements of quoted and some unquoted companies and review forecasts of economic and industry variables to appropriately account for future changes in company performance
  • Train and supervise new employees on financial statement analysis and the basics of valuation
  • Research on companies to derive fair value based on company fundamentals, industry and competitive environment
  • Update and maintain the company financial information (CFI) database which is based on a relative valuation basis
  • Prepare research reports such as the daily stock market report, company earnings update report and economic reports such as monetary policy committee communiques and monthly inflation reports
  • Stay abreast of economic, industry, company and market developments, new investment products and all other areas that affects valuation by monitoring economic and financial news through media sources, company websites and reading newspaper publications
  • Perform any other tasks that may be assigned.

Minimum Education and Work Experience:
  • Sc. or HND in any numerate discipline
  • Professional qualification e.g. ACA, CIS, CFA, etc. is an added advantage
  • Minimum of five (5) years relevant work experience
